Residents in Throgs Neck faced brutal cold temperatures Friday as they dug out their vehicles after the year’s first snowstorm.
James was clearing his driveway so he could move his car.
"The snow is heavy, icy and difficult to shovel," he says. "It makes things very, very complicated. Especially for me because I'm 71 years old."
Thursday's storm left several inches of snow on the ground, which piled up in drifts due to high winds then froze.
The weekend is only expected to be colder with temperatures so low the city has not seen them since 1994, according to News 12 meteorologists.
