Residents from Olinville marched to raise awareness of gun violence Monday.
June is gun-violence awareness month, and residents and students from P.S. 41 gathered on White Plains Road and East Gun Hill Road to march.
The sight of the march was just a block away from where an 11-year-old boy from P.S. 41 was attacked and sexually assaulted a week ago.
According to the 47th precinct, shooting incidents in the community are at the same level as they were last year.
Community members say it's more important than ever to take a stand against violence in any form, on the streets and at home.
Participants wore orange shirts, a color that correlates with gun violence awareness month.
