Some Bronx residents looking for jobs are now out hundreds of dollars because of a widespread scam.
Residents Quinesha and Love jumped at the chance of a well-paying maintenance job for "Empire Services" after seeing fliers for it.
The women each paid the $100 the flier asked for to cover training costs. After paying the service, they were told to come back after a period of time.
"There was a note on the door telling me to go to 34th Street," Quinesha says "When I got to 34th Street, I ran into a group of people all looking for the same place and it didn't exist."
The Department of Consumer Affairs is investigating the scam. Anyone who feels as though they have been victimized by Empire Services is urged to contact the Attorney General's Office.
