Resilient Young Minds hosted its fifth annual suicide awareness walk Saturday in Brooklyn.
Resilient Young Minds is an organization founded by educator and social worker Simone Muschett.
Muschett says the challenges she saw her students experience inspired her to create the organization and provide resources to help those in need.
"Every time we do one of these events people get connected and stay connected. That's the most beautiful part," Muschett said.
In addition to raising awareness about suicide, the walk also helped teach practical skills people can use to care for their mental health. Those skills included yoga, exercise, art and more.
Resilient Young Minds also provides a yearly summer camp upstate to bring youths together in a safe and supportive environment.
