The Rev. Kevin McCall opened a vigil with prayers Monday afternoon in service to the victims of the deadly Bronx apartment fire Sunday night.
McCall called on Mayor Eric Adams to ensure tenants have heat as the city braces for the incoming colder weather.
"The goal is how do we prevent this from happening again. So we should not have to worry about COVID, vaccinations, Omicron and heat. We should not have to worry about heat in our home and providing adequate heat starting today," he said.
He also said officials are working on funding for burials, particularly for the children killed in the fire.
