About 30,000 people pounded the pavement Sunday to honor heroes who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
The annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run kicked off in Red Hook Sunday morning.
The 5K retraces Siller's final footsteps. The city firefighter ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to rescue survivors of the 9/11 attacks with 60 pounds of gear strapped to his back.
The run also honors the memory of the 343 other firefighters who lost their lives that day.
The event has raised more than $70 million for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports injured service members.
