The city's Department of Sanitation issued a snow alert for Tuesday evening.
Snowfall was expected to be light, but officials prepared for extreme weather.
Earlier in the day, sanitation workers loaded salt spreaders and placed additional personnel on standby in case the snow exceeded expectations.
