Test results show that a cooling tower at the campus of Lehman High School contains traces of legionella bacteria.
The Parkchester school's tower is one of seven that the city Health Department says tested positive for the bacteria.
Students and staff were evacuated from the building. Officials say that cooling tower is self-contained and separate from the water used by the school.
Health officials say the building's air conditioners were turned off Tuesday evening as the towers were disinfected.
Classes are expected to resume Wednesday without any further disruption.
