School for visually impaired celebrates 115th birthday, new program
A school for the visually impaired in the borough is celebrating its 115 birthday.
The Lavelle School for the Blind in Williamsbridge took the opportunity to also announce its “I See” program.
I See stands for inclusive environment, student enrichment, equity and empowerment.
Educators say the initiative will be promoted throughout the year with community and fundraising events
The school currently has 140 students, all with visual impairments or developmental delays. Students range in age from 3 years old to 21.
