Police say they have arrested another 13-year-old in connection with an April 23 fatal shooting on University Avenue.
A few days after the shooting police arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the shooting.
Police say the pair were seen on surveillance cameras canvasing the area before opening fire. That's when Majid Daud and a woman were caught in the crossfire. Officials say they were not the intended target. The woman made a full recovery; however, Daud did not survive.
This comes as crimes involving minors continue to soar. According to NYPD data from 2018 to 2024 the number of children under the age of 18 arrested with a gun has increased by a whopping 136% in New York City. Shooters under the age of 18 went up 92% and young shooting victims increased 81%.
At this time, police are not releasing the names of the minors in custody due to their age. However, the pair are both charged with murder, manslaughter, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
