The shooting of a 16-year-old boy last week prompted tenants of the Patterson Houses to rally for justice Tuesday.
Ocean Conway, 16, was shot across the street from the Patterson Houses at the basketball court where he plays the sport he loves. Police say Conway was shot in the head. His parents say the cellphone he was holding may have saved his life as it partially shielded his head from the brunt of the bullet.
Community members gathered outside the Patterson Houses to say they're fed up with gun violence. They want to hold each other accountable for promoting peace and ending the violence so that other teens don't get hurt.
Police haven't made any arrests in the case. Conway is still in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital.
