Demonstrators gathered for a silent protest against police brutality in Fort Greene Park Sunday

Protesters quietly laid down for nearly 9 minutes, representing the amount of time that a Minneapolis police officer knelt on George Floyd's neck while he was handcuffed.

Organizer Emily Anadu says she held the protest to bring the community together.
People shared words of encouragement and held signs as they stood in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement.
Demonstrators also to honored other people who they say died from police brutality.
Organizers say the event was a day of peace and rejuvenation in support of everyone who is fighting against injustice.
