The New York Public Library will keep
six controversial Dr. Seuss books
on the shelves despite the decision earlier this week by Dr. Seuss
Enterprises to pull the books out of print due to racist imagery.
According to a library
spokeswoman, it does not censor books, and says they will be kept in circulation
until they are no longer in suitable shape to be lent out.
She says the Seuss books are
also in the historical research collection at the library.
The library serves Manhattan,
the Bronx, and Staten Island.
