Other than enjoying the beautiful fall weather in Nassau and Suffolk counties this weekend, you should check back with News 12 either on-air, online or on the free News 12 app for updates on a potential coastal storm for mostly the Wednesday to Thursday timeframe next week. Details will become clearer through the weekend on whether this storm will be a hit, miss or something in-between for Long Island!
It is important to note that this possible local storm next week is completely unrelated to "Melissa." That storm will likely become a Category 4 or even 5 hurricane into early next week. Jamaica, Haiti, the rest of Hispaniola and Eastern Cuba - that entire area is, unfortunately, expected to have to face life-threatening weather conditions from Melissa into next week.
Closer to home, I hope you can enjoy the nice fall weather while we have it! Early reminder - next Sunday, at 2 a.m. on Nov. 2, clocks go back one hour, as daylight saving time comes to an end. Sunrise on that day will be at 6:24 a.m. and sunset will be at 4:47 p.m. Have a great night and weekend!
