Fordham senior hopes postponed season won't cost him an NFL career

A Fordham University football player says he is concerned what the postponement of the Patriot League's season will mean for his career.

Nick Zakelj, a senior offensive lineman, says he's heard that NFL teams have looked at him as a preferred free agent-type player with the ability to increase that with a good senior season.
Now that the season has been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the finance major has spent time working out in his hometown, a suburb outside of Cleveland.

"This is definitely the strongest I've been, the fastest I've been, the most technically-sound I've been," Zakelj says.

He had planned on balancing his football goals with an internship, but was unable to do both near the city because of the health risks.
Fordham students had been given the option of 100% remote learning or returning to campus.
