High school students are learning how to handle medical emergencies through an enrichment program.

On Tuesday, students from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine led workshops for high schoolers on topics including dissection, stroke recognition and CPR as part of the Einstein Enrichment Program. The program exposes 125 high-achieving students to science and medicine by shadowing physicians, attending lectures and participating on hands-on activities.

"So they'll be learning how to do the Heimlich maneuver,” says Lynne Holden, Senior Associate Dean of Community Outreach. “If someone is choking, they'll also be learning hands only CPR.”

The program also helps students prepare for standardized tests, learn effective study skills and pursue research projects.
