A hit-and-run crash killed a man early Sunday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Brentwood.
Suffolk police say Doreen Kucer was driving a 2016 Kia Optima in the westbound lanes near exit 53 in the right lane when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2008 Honda Accord at 2:18 a.m.
Police say the Kia then struck a guardrail and came to rest in the HOV lane. The driver of the Honda fled the scene on foot following the crash.
Terence McAree, 62, of North Babylon, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
Kucer, 59, was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital. The two victims were in a relationship and lived in the same home.
