A Huntington station woman has been charged with animal cruelty.

The Suffolk Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says Holly Akler left a 12-year-old Labrador mix outside in below freezing temperatures with no food or water.

They say Ackler told them she was home the entire time but "passed out."

Officials say neighbors and police repeatedly knocked on her door to try and get her to bring the dog inside.

Ackler is scheduled to appear in court in February.
