New York City is ramping up efforts to get more
young people vaccinated.
Fort Hamilton High School in Bay Ridge will be
offering coronavirus vaccines starting Monday.
It is one of 25 Summer Rising vaccination sites
attempting to make vaccines available for children over the age of 12.
The campaign also hopes to get Department of
Education employees vaccinated.
Vaccination rates for children are at 44% in New
York, with around 60% of DOE workers receiving at least one dose of a vaccine.
Herbert H. Lehman High School in the Bronx is also
serving as a vaccination site.
The DOE says students must be at least 12 years old to get
the Pfizer vaccine, and anyone under the age of 15 has to be accompanied by an
adult parent or guardian.
