A woman and her Concourse Village neighbors say they are at their wits end living in a rat-infested nightmare.
Ann Marchena says she found seven rats in the walls of her apartment at 215 East 164th Street in just one single day. But she says in the 15 years shes lived there, there has been a rat problem for about half of that time.
Marchena says at one point, she had to change her 5-year-old's bedroom. She has been forced to take her kids to hotels to avoid a smells she describes as similar to a morgue.
"I had to switch rooms from the rat-infested room ... but this one also had rats," says Marchena.
She joined her neighbors to demands changes. The building has more than 100 violations, according to the Department of Buildings' website.
Tenants say they sued their last landlord six months ago for the same problems. The building's new landlord did not immediately respond to News 12's request for comment.
