The Bronx celebrated the 44th anniversary of hip-hop on Friday.
It all started with DJs throwing parties at the park and showing off their music. And now, a younger generation is getting a test of those old-school parties with a massive celebration.
Google even got in on the action on its homepage Friday.
The Kingsbridge Community Center marked the day with the end of a free, five-year summer camp that taught kids all about the history of hip-hop, which got its start in Morris Heights.
The camp program is hands-on and not only had kids hear from the DJs who lived through hip-hop's birth.
The camp founder says they hope to continue to grow and come back next year.
