Mayor Bill de Blasio announced 12 new NYC Health + Hospitals testing sites across the city Tuesday.
Starting the week of May 18, there will be two new sites in Manhattan and Brooklyn with a testing capacity of 6,300.
On May 25, the city will add 10 new sites in Staten Island, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn with a testing capacity of 10,700 tests per day.
The mayor says he hopes within the months ahead the city can get to 50,000 tests per day.
The mayor also took time to addressing pediatric multi-system inflammatory syndrome.
He says 52 cases have been detected with 10 cases currently pending.
So far, 25 of those cases have tested positive for COVID-19 and 22 others tested positive for antibodies. There has been one fatality reported.
The mayor advised parents whose children show symptoms including persistent fever, rash, abdominal pain and vomiting should call a doctor.
New York City also reported another night of protecting homeless New Yorkers. The mayor says 362 people were engaged Monday night, with 178 sent to shelters and 33 to hospitals.
