New York City began Phase 1 of reopening on Monday, which means retail stores are allowed to offer curbside pickup.
It’s been about 100 days since the coronavirus pandemic started. The Hut in Westchester Square sells sneakers, apparel, video games and more.
It is now allowed to open its doors for curbside pickup. Owner Victor Marquez says he turned the difficult times during lockdown into opportunity, after nearly being looted during riots in the past weeks.
“I pretty much packed up my whole store and put it in storage,” said Marquez.
Once he cleared the store, he says he worked to make improvements around the shop.
He says he feels for all the heaviness and hurt that his community is facing.
However, he says he is looking forward and working to get the shop ready for when customers are able to shop in the store.
