Winter in May? LI sees snow, new record low temp recorded in Islip
April showers bring... May snow? Guess so! 
Long Islanders are in for some weather whiplash this week after waking up to record-low temperatures for Saturday. A new low of 34 degrees was recorded at Islip MacArthur Airport, breaking the previous record of 36 degrees set in 1987.
Normal lows for this time of year are around 48 degrees.
 
Trace amounts of snow were also recorded overnight, after a whopping 0 inches of snow back in February of this year.
And parts of the Island saw more snowfall late Saturday afternoon. News 12 meteorologists say a quick passing snow squall brought flakes to parts of the Island.

After this frigid day, things slowly get better, starting for Mother's Day on Sunday,  as we will be back near 60 degrees. It will remain a bit breezy, however.
The upcoming week will feature book-end chances for rain showers on Monday and Friday --  but midweek will be mainly sunny.
