Youth Gun Violence Prevention Summit-basketball game aims to keep kids on positive path

City leaders, members of the NYPD and survivors of gun violence attended a Youth Gun Violence Prevention Summit at the LA Central YMCA today in the South Bronx.
The event was organized by Yanely Henriquez, mother of Angellyh Yambo – a teenager caught in the crossfire of a shooting on April 8, 2022 while walking home from school. She was 16 years old.
Speakers laid out strategies to fight gun violence and lead the youth down a positive path.
After the summit, the children played basketball while building community relationships.
News 12’s Lindsay Tanney was there and spoke with Henriquez and others about the event.
June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.
