'100 feet of brick falling': Officials install braces on collapsed wall

The Department of Buildings has installed new braces on a wall that collapsed in Port Morris two weeks ago.
Kenny Blanco, the warehouse supervisor of Paper Enterprises, says he heard a loud boom and saw bricks fall off the building. He says a man had gotten out of his car moments before the falling bricks totaled it.
"You have 100 feet of brick falling in one shot... it could have been a lot worse," Blanco says.
The entrance of 850 East 140th Street is closed and scaffolding has been installed so pedestrians can walk safely. The Department of Buildings says they've ordered the owner of the building to have a professional engineer evaluate the building and repair the damage by July 1 of next year.
Officials say the part of the wall that collapsed was a barrier blocking off the edge of a roof.
