U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced Wednesday that two New Jersey residents have been charged with child sex trafficking and related offenses.
Authorities say 26-year-old Destiny Tamarato, of Brick Township, was arrested at an Elizabeth motel with two underage victims in April 2020.
Police conducting a prostitution investigation in the area were led to the scene after uncovering an online advertisement for sexual services.
Tamarato was arrested again in 2021 after continuing to advertise sexual services from one of the underage victims.
Police say 30-year-old Daquan McCallum, of Elizabeth, also arranged for the victim to perform more sex work despite knowing she was a minor.
Tamarato and McCallum face 10 years in prison if convicted, according to authorities.
