Tenants at a new luxury building in Mott Haven say they’ve been without heat, power or a working elevator for more than 24 hours.

News 12 was told the building located at 138 Bruckner Boulevard opened through the housing lottery in 2024. It boasts amenities like a pool, basketball courts and a courtyard.

Residents say their rent runs for around $3,000. They say they’re not getting what they paid for due to the issues. They say they’ve had problems since the day they moved in like inconsistent access to amenities. Now without power, they say they can't heat their homes, use the elevator or even get into the building with their electronic key fobs.

The property is owned by JCS Realty who said they are working with Con Edison to restore power.

Con Ed said that there were four transformers installed at the building, but that the cable on the bottom of one of the transformers failed. They say that since it was the only feeder supplying the building, the power went out. The energy company told News 12 it hoped to have service back by Wednesday.

In the meantime, JCS Realty also said it would offer up to $300 a night for hotel stays and two weeks off rent to accommodate residents.

Tenants say this offer was not made to them until News 12 contacted the management company about the issues at the building.

The Department of Housing Preservation and Development currently has 28 open violations on this building, many related to heat and hot water.
