4th teen charged with attempted murder in Mott Haven shooting that left woman seriously injured
Police say a fourth and final teenager was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in Mott Haven that left a 38-year-old woman seriously injured.
Isiah Zapata-Ruiz, 18, of the Bronx, is accused of firing multiple rounds toward a group just after 4 p.m. on Feb. 10, striking the woman. Two teen boys, ages 15 and 16, and a 16-year-old girl were previously taken into custody.
The teens were captured on exclusive surveillance video obtained by News 12, walking near 383 East 143rd St. before suddenly splitting up.
Moments later, police say one of the teen boys pulled a gun from the girl’s bag before all three boys opened fire toward a group across the street, sending people running for cover.
Authorities say the woman was struck by a stray bullet. EMS rushed her to the hospital, and she is expected to recover.
The teens each face an attempted murder charge.
