Police and FDNY officials responded to reports of a police car fire late Sunday night in Sunset Park.
According to police, a 39-year-old woman's BMW SUV hit a police car while turning on 65th Street and 8th Avenue. The police car hit a pole after the crash. The police cruiser burst into flames. FDNY members extinguished the fire 10 minutes after they arrived.
Two officers were inside the vehicle and were taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
The woman fled on foot, but soon returned to the scene and was taken into custody.
