Police say a woman has been arrested for assaulting a police officer and criminal mischief at a 7-Eleven in Valley Stream.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call for a disturbance at 7-Eleven located on W. Merrick Road at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon arrival, officers were notified about a female eating food and drinking beer without purchasing it.  The woman’s conduct took place within the course of three hours, police say.
The female was asked multiple times to pay for the merchandise and leave the store, police say.
Officers told the woman she needed to pay for the merchandise, but they say she became aggressive and intentionally smashed a 12 ounce Heineken bottle on the floor.
The officers proceeded to place her under arrest and that is when she struck one of the officers in the face, causing redness and swelling to his left cheek.
Rosemary Garcia, 51, of Valley Stream, was subdued and placed under arrest.
Garcia is charged with assault, criminal mischief, petit larceny and obstructing a governmental administration.
