Federal and local authorities made another major drug bust in the Bronx, uncovering over 100 pounds of suspected cocaine, fentanyl and other drugs.
Three people have been arrested in connection to this drug discovery that was made at Mexzzarella Pizza in Soundview, located across the street from a local elementary school.
Law enforcement officials say that the drugs discovered at the pizzeria are worth over $4 million. They say over 100 vials of crack-cocaine, $40,000 in cash, and around 100 pounds of cocaine, one kilogram of fentanyl, and heroin were uncovered.
Gaudencio Rosendo Perez, Zulema Cardenas Espinoza, and Alexander Sambot are all facing charges for drug trafficking and possession. Authorities closed in on the three on Oct. 19 when they were spotted coming out of the pizza shop on Soundview Avenue.
The operation was a joint effort from the NYPD, state police, and the Drug Enforcement Agency. Law enforcement is still awaiting lab results to determine exactly what some of the suspected drugs are.
