Bronx man accused of murder dies at Rikers Island; 14th inmate death this year

A man from The Bronx died while in custody at Rikers Island on Sunday.
He is the 14th person to die in NYC Department of Corrections custody this year.
DOC revealed that Kryon Randall, 33, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital on Sunday "due to what appeared to be an allergic reaction." He was pronounced dead overnight.
Randall was charged with murder back in June of 2023, accused of beating a 56-year-old man into a coma. The man later died from his injuries.
He was awaiting trial and was set to appear in Bronx Criminal Court for a conference in February.
