Cynthia Grant was born in 1920 in Jamaica and immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s before eventually settling down in New York City.
The milestone was celebrated in Pelham Gardens.
Grant has no children of her own and was longtime educator in Jamaica and in the United States.
According to Boston University, as of 2019, there's only about 5,000 people 100 or older in New York.
