A man who was saved from choking as a baby nearly three decades ago met the officers that saved him in Bensonhurst on Sunday.

The reunion happened at Seth Low Park, not far from the home where the police officers responded to 911 calls of a baby choking.

Bryan Garvey says 27 years later, he is alive because of the efforts of retired NYPD Detective Nicholas Scianna and Detective Paul Strafaci.

Scianna and Strafaci said Garvey was choking, but that it was going to be a while before the ambulance arrived. Scianna and Strafaci jumped into action as one went behind the wheel to race to Coney Island Hospital while the other tried to get Garvey to breathe in the back of the car.

The 27-year-old had wanted to meet the men who saved him, so he reached out to them on social media.

Garvey said his mother still gets emotional over what happened, but the family is forever grateful for the detectives’ heroic efforts on that day back in 1993.
