Local lawmakers and other community leaders held a vigil Monday night for Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, the 15-year-old who was murdered last week at a bodega.
The vigil happened on East 183rd Street, and those in attendance were calling for an end to gang violence.
"We as a community need to take responsibility for what happened here. Because I do know of other communities that would have never allowed that to happen,” said Timothy Tapia, the 86th District Assembly leader.

Many say they have been deeply affected by the tragedy, including Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
Monday night the borough president spent time at the News 12 studio and spoke about the increase in violence this year in the Bronx.
“I have spoken to a number of personnel, the higher ups personnel in NYPD and I am letting them know that when comparing to last year and in many different neighborhoods, some of the neighborhoods that crime, violent crime and homicides are up," said Borough President Diaz Jr.
