AAA Northeast says records were broken in 2022 when it came to deadly crashes involving young drivers in New York.
According to AAA Northeast, 124 people were killed in crashes involving 16- to 20-year-old drivers last year, the highest it’s been since 2013. In 2013, 139 people were killed in such crashes.
They say the top five contributing factors were drivers following too closely, failure to yield right of way, distraction, passing changing lanes, and unsafe speeds.
Of the 124 people killed in those young driver-related incidents, 44 were passengers and 24 were pedestrians.
