The Department of Education announced Monday that several schools in the Renewal Program may be closing and merging.
They say nine citywide schools, including New Explorers High School, Urban Science Academy and P.S. 92 Bronx School, have been proposed to close. The closures would force dozens of students to find new schools for the upcoming school year.
The department also says multiple schools are being proposed to merge, such as Holcombe Rucker School of Community combining with Longwood Preparatory Academy. They say both schools would turn into Longwood Prep.
Officials also say Accion Academy could also merge with Entrada Academy.
