Family Welcome Centers are offering services to families and parents over the phone, by email and through video conferences. The centers have been closed since March due to COVID-19.
They are designed to help families navigate New York City public school options, processes and waitlists.
They also support and guide new families that move to NYC for the first time with assistance in public schools.
"We're typically the first point of reference for families that are newly entering NYC public schools and so because of that we do provide knowledge and information to families on NYC public school systems as well as NYC as a whole and services available to families,” said Brooklyn Family Center Director of Enrollment Desiree Sandoval.
There are 12 family welcome centers located throughout the five boroughs that are working remotely but still offering the same services.
