Fairfield officials are expecting a larger than normal crowd this year at the town's already postponed fireworks display.
The display, which is viewable from Penfield or Jennings beaches, was postponed due to inclement weather this weekend.
However, the fireworks display will take place on Monday, officials say.
"Normally, our neighboring towns Westport, Bridgeport, Norwalk are all doing them. With all of them being canceled, we'll get a lot of non-residents coming to our beaches to watch our show," Fairfield Police Lt. Antonio Granata says.
Officials say those heading out to Penfield or Jennings should keep in mind there will be several road closures in the beach area starting at 5 p.m. Monday.
Officials say the roads need to be kept closed and free of vehicles for emergency vehicles and personnel.
Once the fireworks end, officials also say there are going to be significant delays exiting the beach. There are specific routes designated for those leaving.
Police have a map available online for those who want to check out routes before heading to the beach.
"Those routes were designed to have traffic free-flowing from the beach area out to the Post Road," Granata says.
