A psychiatrist was arrested Monday on charges of sexually assaulting a patient, police said.

Dr. Lazaro Pomeraniec, of Westport, was taken into custody and later released on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.

According to WebMD Care, Pomeraniec practices at Columbia Mental Health clinic on Post Road in Fairfield, where he specializes in adolescent medicine, psychiatry, neurology and child and adolescent psychiatry.

Fairfield police are asking anyone who may have been a victim or has information related to the case to contact the department's Special Victims Unit at 203-254-4804.
