The family of 17-year-old Emery Mizell, who was killed in Soundview in May, filled Bronx Criminal Court Thursday as the teen's 15-year-old suspected killer made a scheduled court appearance.
Mizell was stabbed to death, and video showed the moments the two girls got into a vicious fight that killed Mizell.
Her family says they just want justice for their loved one and want people to realize the impact a split-second decision can have.
"It's not like she didn't know what was going on. She knew better. She should be punished, but it shouldn't be dragged out this long," said Mizell's cousin Latanya Mizell.
The 15-year-old suspect is charged with murder, manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon.
