A Bronx man was arrested at a Montana gun range after federal agents say he wanted to join the Islamic State group and avenge the New Zealand mosque attacks.
Federal agents says Fabjan Alameti, 21, moved to Bozeman, Montana last month. He reportedly told a federal informant about his plans of carrying out an attack in the U.S., and said it was easier to get a gun in Montana.
Alameti had lived on Willamsbridge Road before he moved. News 12 spoke to his mother, who says she came to the U.S. from Albania 20 years ago. Alaberta Alameti says her son told her he went to Montana to find work.
The mother says her son stayed out of trouble and doesn't know what happened. But neighbors paint a different picture, saying he committed acts like urinating on doors and breaking into apartments by going through a fire escape to steal belongings.
Neighbors say he has been arrested many times by the 49th Precinct.
