Restaurants across the city have been struggling to stay afloat for over a year amid the coronavirus pandemic. Now, a Bay Ridge business has yet another hurdle to overcome, after a hit-and-run left its outdoor dining area in shambles.
Police say a car hit the South Brooklyn Foundry's outdoor dining area and took off Sunday morning.
Restaurant owner Agnes Kelly says the structure is now missing a vital piece to resume outdoor dining.
Kelly tells News 12 when she got to the restaurant, she found a bumper in the outdoor area, including the VIN number.  She gave the VIN number to police, which helped them identify who the driver was.
She says she is now turning to the community for help with a GoFundMe page. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
For now, she says outdoor dining is on hold.
