With Christmas now behind us, it's time to start thinking about how, and when, you're going to get rid of that Christmas tree.

The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation’s annual Mulchfest kicks off today.

New Yorkers can drop off their Christmas trees until Jan. 7 at 72 locations in all five boroughs. Trees will then be turned into mulch, which is then used to nourish vegetation at parks across the city.

On Jan. 6 and 7, people will also be able to see their trees get chipped and collect mulch for their own gardens.
