The FAA paused operations at a number of airports along the Eastern Seaboard on Friday due to the earthquake that took place.
All air traffic is operating as normal for now, and many of the people in JFK hit the tarmac and received the shocking news.
An Ireland native was sad he wasn't on the ground during the quake. He says it's the second one he's missed.
"Is it luck of the Irish? I don't know!" said Patrick Caoloan.
