A specialty food distributor gave out free meals for those in need on Saturday in Hunts Point.
About 2,000 people from 500 families lined up for healthy holiday meals from Baldor, a company with over 50 years of history in New York City.
Community volunteers say half of the Hunts Point community is low-income.
For those people, meals can be hard to come by, during the holidays or otherwise.
"We talk a lot about how to better our community, and the fact that I'm here actually doing something to help the community, it feels good," said a volunteer who helped give out meals.
