New York is known for its bagels, or so we thought.
A restaurant critic for the New York Times recently claimed California is the state to get the best bagel.
The author cited a "West Coast bagel boom" that has "bakers tinkering and excelling with regional styles."
But New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio shot the Times down with three simple words.
"Yeah, absolutely not," the mayor wrote on Twitter.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams also came to New York's defense.
"I may not eat many bagels myself these days, but trust me: THE. BEST. BAGELS. ARE. IN. BROOKLYN," he wrote.
