As more and more New Yorkers are returning to city buses and subways rivaling pre-pandemic numbers, the MTA is launching a campaign to encourage more kindness and courtesy among its commuters.

The MTA hopes a renewed push for kindness will help create a friendlier and even possibly a faster system for residents. The transit authority plans to post signs across the five boroughs to help get their message across.

“The best way for customers to maximize their enjoyment of our system is to treat each other with kindness and respect,” said MTA executive Catherine Rinaldi. “To treat others like you want to be treated, messages like 'keep available seats free,' not blocking train doors so people can enter and exit freely and keeping the air clean by not smoking or vaping in our system.”
