New information is emerging about a gunfire incident involving an off-duty NYPD official in Rockland County.
Authorities say the incident happened last month at a ShopRite in Garnerville.
Assistant Chief Benjamin Gurley was involved in a fight with another man when his gun discharged once, officials said.
No one was hit.
Gurley’s lawyers say the man involved was a former schoolmate who had been repeatedly harassing Gurley’s daughter.
They say the family filed two police reports and that Gurley tried to contact the man’s parents about the situation.
The attorney also says Gurley has fully cooperated with investigators.
